Dedicated Server / Bare-Metal Server mieten

All dedicated servers from IP-Projects are operated exclusively in data centers that meet our high standards of availability. To ensure these standards, we require the following data center certifications:

• DIN EN 50600 (European data center standard)
• PCI DSS (standard for information security of credit card organizations)
• TÜV VK3 (availability class 3 / based on TIER 3 certification)

These data center certifications ensure that the technical environment of our bare metal servers meets high availability standards and that these standards are regularly audited by an independent certification body.

In addition to the data center certifications, each server location is ISO 27001 certified (international standard for information security management systems).

For many of our customers' projects, the availability of dedicated servers is essential. In order to meet these high availability requirements, we design all components that are subject to constant wear and tear to be redundant. Each of our servers therefore has:

• Redundant power supplies – these can be replaced during operation and are connected via redundant A+B power feeds.
• At least 2 storage devices – Each server has at least two storage devices to enable RAID Level 1 configuration. With SATA, SAS, and NVMe U.2/U.3 devices, a defective device can be replaced during operation.
• Redundant network – to ensure that one of the network ports is always available, even during maintenance, each of our bare-metal servers has at least two network uplinks, which are terminated on different switches.

Security must not be overlooked when it comes to dedicated servers. In addition to our DDoS protection, firewalls, and intrusion prevention, the security of short-term hardware replacement is also a top priority.

Spare parts/hardware warehouse

We have a comprehensive spare parts warehouse at each of our data center locations to ensure that even in the event of major hardware defects, the defective components can always be replaced quickly.

This hardware warehouse is subject to regular audits to ensure that a suitable spare part for your bare metal server is always in stock!

DDoS protection

DDoS protection can be added as an option to every dedicated server from IP-Projects. The smallest version, “Bronze DDoS Protection,” is available free of charge. This free DDoS protection offers basic protection against common network attacks, but its functionality is limited, meaning that individual customization—for example, of the filters—is not possible.

The Silver, Gold, and Platinum versions also offer custom filter templates and customization options, as well as extended technical support.

Firewall Appliance

A firewall appliance can be particularly useful when operating a cluster. At IP-Projects, we offer our customers a genuine firewall appliance for a small monthly surcharge to ensure WAN/LAN network separation. All customers receive unrestricted access to the firewall appliance so that they can roll out configuration adjustments or firewall rules on their own.

Intrusion Prevention

The optimal firewall appliances also offer the option of installing numerous plugins within the OPNSense firewall system. One of these plugins is an intrusion prevention system, which offers additional filtering options to protect web shops or other critical websites in order to detect and filter certain attack vectors in advance.

This can be a particularly important criterion when it comes to sensitive customer data.

Performing backups can sometimes be challenging with bare-metal server systems if no virtualization hypervisor is used.

We therefore offer our customers a wide range of different backup options for dedicated servers. The backup servers for these backup options are located in a separate fire compartment or even in a separate, self-sufficient data center. We can offer our customers the following backup options:

• SMBv3 network drive – If a customer wants to organize their own backups or integrate a network drive into the Plesk server for backups, we provide an SMBv3 network drive free of charge. Backups can be stored there as desired. The network drive is only limited by the available storage capacity.
• Shared Proxmox backup server – File-based backups are also possible via the Proxmox backup server. Ideally, this is used in conjunction with a Proxmox hypervisor.

Our server backup offerings range up to 10 TB of storage capacity. Larger capacities or dedicated backup servers can be provided upon request.

Upgradeability and Scalability

When using dedicated servers, scalability depends on the hardware used. If technically possible, new storage devices or memory upgrades can be implemented at any time. However, we exclude server CPU replacement from scalability, as the probability of a defect due to replacement is too risky and the CPU is usually the largest cost factor in the provision of a server.

Price stability

Thanks to long-term supply contracts with our data center service providers, our dedicated servers are also characterized by long-term price stability. This gives our customers planning security and future certainty for their application operations.
