What is a dedicated server?

A dedicated server is a physical server that is available exclusively to a single customer. Unlike virtual servers (VPS), you do not share resources with other users—processor power, RAM, hard drives, and network are entirely yours.
What advantages does a dedicated server offer over a VPS or cloud server?

There are numerous advantages to a bare metal server compared to a VPS or cloud server. The most important points at a glance are:
- Full performance – no shared resources
- High security – hardware is used exclusively by you
- Individual configuration – operating system, software, and firewall according to your requirements
- Predictable costs – no dynamic fees as with cloud resources, for example
What use cases are suitable for dedicated servers?

Depending on the dedicated server offering, there are a wide variety of use cases for dedicated servers. IP-Projects servers are often used for the following workloads:
- Hosting websites with high traffic
- Databases and ERP systems
- Virtualization of multiple VMs or containers
- High-performance gaming servers
- Computationally intensive applications such as AI, 3D rendering, or video encoding
Which operating systems are available?

By default, our server management offers 1-click installation of all common Linux and Windows distributions. However, it is also possible to integrate your own ISO images via the permanent IPMI KVM over IP console in order to perform a manual installation.
Can I configure the server individually?

When ordering a server, certain configuration parameters can be customized directly during the ordering process. This usually includes the server storage and RAM to be used.
In addition, our sales department can of course be contacted to request and calculate individual server configurations.
Are backups included in the price?

The server price does not include backup as standard. However, this can be added as an option. We provide backups via our Proxmox backup servers or as an SMBv3 network drive.
What contract terms are available?

For a small setup fee, it is possible to rent dedicated servers even with short contract terms. However, this is not possible with our enterprise servers, as the acquisition costs are very high and are amortized over the specified term.
Is there a discount for advance payment?

Yes - depending on the prepayment period, we offer various discount scales. These are visible during the ordering process and are always based on the usual interest rates on the financial market.
Is Plesk included in the server offers?

No - a Plesk license comes with a small monthly surcharge. However, this can be reduced if the Plesk instances are virtualized on the dedicated server.
